Eartha's Sustainable Fabrics
SEACELL
The EARTH collection includes PYRATEX® cosmetic fabric 4 made with seaweed-based fibre.
Incredibly, It has an anti oxidative capacity which eliminates free radicals (linked to aging and a host of diseases) while caring for the wearer's skin. The anti oxidant properties are certified by European laboratories.
Seaweed is pure and rich in essential substances such as vitamins, trace elements, amino acids and minerals. The skin’s natural moisture level enables an active exchange of these substances, activating cell regeneration, which in turn can help relieve skin diseases, reduce inflammation and soothe itchiness.
Seacell also keeps skin dry by rapid evaporation of sweat.
The seaweed is harvested in a gentle, selective and sustainable process, which only removes the part of the seaweed that is able to regenerate.
Seaweed fiber is carbon neutral, produced in a closed loop, with no chemicals released as waste, exclusively from sustainable raw materials – wood and seaweed – using methods that save both energy and resources.
The positive properties of seaweed are permanently preserved within the final fiber, even after multiple washing cycles.
This fibre is OEKO TEX certified.
OEKOTEX: Products that carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label have been tested and proven free of harmful levels of toxic substances.
BEECHWOOD
The Micro modal fibre used in the EARTH collection derives from replenishable beech wood grown in Austria. Modal fibres are produced from dissolving wood pulp in a responsibly managed process.
Modal is celebrated for its silky softness and is produced from natural fibres which means it is breathable, absorbs water, is shrink resistant and holds dye well.
Moisture absorbing fabrics, like modal, are a good choice for eczema-prone skin.
The micromodal fabric is produced using a CO2 neutral system which involves an advanced closed-loop process (where up to 95% of the chemicals used during the production are recycled).
As an alternative to cotton, wood based fibres are seen to have a significantly lower impact on the environment as they do not require intensive watering or the use of pesticides.
This fibre is OEKO TEX certified.

ORGANIC COTTON
Conventional farming and production of traditional cotton relies heavily on the use of chemicals including pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and synthetic fertilisers, alongside genetically modified seeds and huge amounts of water.
However, organic cotton is produced very differently as organic cotton is produced without the use of toxic chemicals. The multiple stages of the supply chain must remain chemical-free in order to be organic, including land preparation, using non-GM seeds, soil, and weed and pest management.
This fibre is OEKO TEX certified.

BAMBOO
Bamboo grows incredibly fast, requires considerably less water than plastic and cotton for manufacturing, does not need chemicals for growth and can actually restore the soil it grows on if it has been previously damaged.
Bamboo crops take in almost 5 times the amount of Greenhouse gases than the average tree.
Bamboo produces 35% more oxygen than other trees.
The bamboo for the EARTH collection is dyed using non toxic (Azo free) dyes.
Bamboo also has the following benefits:
- Maintains shape after multiple washes
- Moisture wicking
- Naturally antibacterial
- Naturally antimicrobial
- Natural soft
- Durable/hardwearing
